"Faster Yahoo Mail" How to disable advertisements

Most of the time when we check mails in Yahoo, the browser takes a long time to load the advertisements!! There is a small trick to disable them. No need to use any java scripts or any Add-ons. Just follow the instructions below.

[For Windows]

1. Go to the path "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc"

[For Linux]
1. Go to the path "\etc"

2. Open hosts file in a text editor

[For Windows]
3. Add 127.0.0.1 ad.yieldmanager.com below #System Administration Related Entries
[For Linux]
3. Add 127.0.0.1 ad.yieldmanager.com below 127.0.0.1 localhost

4. Save the file [Need Administrator/Root Privilege]

Now your "hosts" file will look like this

[For Windows]
#System Administration Related Entries
127.0.0.1 ad.yieldmanager.com

[For Linux]
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 ad.yieldmanager.com

Thats it... you have done it.. No more annoying ads!! Enjoy faster Yahoo Mail!!

If its not working for you let me know...

Wonderful. Thank...
Skip all the download time, but increase the web site lookup time. However, it is still much better than downloading the ads.... Many thanks

Hello Sam this what I find in my Notepad/hosts page, not sure how to proceed.

127.0.0.1 localhost

This is no longer 100% functional...

I use MVPS hosts (Same idea but blocks more ads on other sites too. - To find it, Google Search MVPS hosts) but now get ads all the time on Yahoo Mail even after updating to the latest version as of today.

Please update this post!
